" SEGEDIN GOULASH (Szegedin) "
The general consensus is that this dish originated in the Hungarian town of Szeged, which is also famous for its paprika. But there are also those who argue the dish was named after the Hungarian writer, journalist and a poet József Székely. The story is told that József showed up at a restaurant just before its closing time and was told that all they had left was some goulash and sauerkraut. He asked them to just mix those together and since then people have been requesting “Székely’s Gulyás”. Whichever version of the story is accurate, one thing is a fact: This goulash is delicious and it is a very popular dish throughout Hungary, Central Europe and Germany.
"Szegedin Goulash" features slow-simmered, succulent pork, onions, garlic and sauerkraut in a wonderfully rich creamy paprika-infused broth. It’s incredibly delicious! Serve with a dollop of sour cream and swirl it in before eating. It is eaten on its own or with a serving of Traditional Czech Bread Dumplings (sold separately).
